If you check our January blog posts (each year), you can find our Word Of The Year articles with a lot of background information about the winner and also about other words that made it to the top 3.
Looking back it’s easy to understand why a certain word was selected. Word Of The Year for 2019, for example, was “climate emergency”. We were not surprised why. Then came a word in 2020 that didn’t really need to be announced. It was “pandemic”. Word Of The Year for 2021 did not surprise anyone, either. It was “vax”. And last year, “Goblin mode” won. That might not be so obvious.
Can you predict Word Of The Year for 2023? Can you find a word that sums up this year?
