To bring you an example that interests most of us: 
Let’s dive into an evergreen, ever current topic: Longevity and Health, (and we are not talking about the latest and trendiest diet tips here). 
If your target language is English and you want to find out where and why people live the longest on this planet:
type in the magical keywords „BLUE ZONES” and you will end up with tens or hundreds of fascinating search results that are perfect for summer reading/listening/watching, wherever you are.

There’s a whole website dedicated to this research that started 15 years ago, with articles, charts, videos, recipes even programs that you can join if you like: https://www.bluezones.com/

It’s just an example.  
Any topic in any language is great for using your areas of interest to boost your language learning.
