  • Only ONE PERSON, John Hancock signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. All the others signed later.
  • The first Independence Day celebration took place in Philadelphia on JULY 8, 1776.
  • The well-known national bird of the USA is the bald eagle. But Benjamin Franklin’s first proposal was the TURKEY.
  • In 1776, 2.5 million people lived in the new nation. Today the population is more than 325 MILLION.
  • Approximately 150 MILLION HOT DOGS and 700 MILLION POUNDS OF CHICKEN are consumed on July 4th in the USA.
